 WHAT TO EXPECT

This photography adventure combines 3 popular workshops (Black Bears of Eastern NC, Bird Photography on the Outer Banks and Wild Horses of the Outer Banks) into one amazing experience.  The Outer Banks region is a wildlife and nature photographer’s dream. If you love to photograph wildlife, this is the adventure for you!

The coastal region of northeastern NC is home to the highest density of black bears in the world, one of the few places where you can photograph wild horses on a beach and highly regarded as one of the most prominent birding sites on the east coast.  As a former wildlife biologist and long-time resident of the Outer Banks, I have the knowledge that will get you to the best possible photographic locations in the area.

LODGING
I will secure discounted lodging at a hotel in Nags Head, NC. You are welcome to stay anywhere you want, but all excursions will originate and terminate at this hotel.

SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT
- 400mm lens or larger will get the most use, but you will also want something in the 70-200mm range. A wide angle lens will be nice to have to photograph the landscape.
- Tripod and/or monopod
- Insects can occasionally be bothersome. You may want long pants and long sleeves or have some bug repellent.

ACTIVITY LEVEL
There is very light physical exertion on this photo tour. Most of our photography will occur very close to the vehicle. Some locations may require walking through soft sand for short distances. Occasionally, there is the option of wading into knee deep water while photographing the horses or birds.
