I was born on Cape Cod, MA and began seriously photographing at the age of 13. I have always been fascinated with wildlife and nature and at a young age became involved in some intensive field research with various wildlife species. I received a degree in wildlife biology from the University of Vermont and, although it was not part of my plan, returned to the high school that I attended and co-taught a wildlife biology class for 13 years. During this time, I realized that my true connection to the natural world was through photography rather than science. It was at that time that I moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to begin pursuing a career in wildlife and nature photography.
It was never my goal to make a living by selling my images. Instead, I wanted to combine my knowledge of nature, teaching ability and passion for photography in order to help others improve their photography…and ultimately share in the joy of being out in nature with others.
I live on the Outer Banks with my wife, 4 boys and 4 dogs
