Florida is considered by many to be the mecca of bird photography. In addition to the abundance of birdlife in the state, the birds are quite approachable and easy to photograph. We will explore some of the best bird photography locations in the southwest part of the state, including the famed Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. But in addition to this iconic bird photography location, there are several other lesser-known, nearby sites where the photography is simply spectacular. This trip will occur at a time of year when many birds will be in breeding plumage (and exhibiting some breeding behavior) and some chicks will be present. You can expect to photograph a variety of species including; egrets, herons, burrowing owls, terns, plovers, oystercatchers, osprey, pelicans, roseate spoonbills and much more.
